The Woman Who Breathed Two Worlds is a book I may read again once I get to learn more about Malaysia, especially the Nyonyas and their traditional sweets or kuehs. I think the experience that this book provides will be enhanced once I get an understanding of the cultural backdrop wherein it was written.

For me, this is a recommended book as it provides a different perspective on the confluence of modern and traditional values with particular focus on how to preserve the latter. The story is able to tackle a lot of subjects given that it spans Chye Hoon’s lifetime and set at a time when a lot of changes were happening to their community and the outside world.

For One More Day is a book I may read again if I am encountering doubts on my relationship with my parents. It is a light read, which has a lot of heart. The book is a great reminder of the extent of a mother’s love no matter how unrecognized.
